Concrete Finisher

Our amazing Concrete Team is growing and we’re looking for a skilled individual to join our crew!

The JKT, Development Inc., Jamestown Concrete Finisher will expertly pour, level, and smooth concrete on a variety of surfaces including roads, sidewalks, curbs, and floors. The position will be required to set the forms that hold the concrete in place, patch existing surfaces, cut expansion joints, and monitor the curing of the concrete to ensure a high-quality finish.

Essential Functions
  • Designing and building forms.
  • Ability to read plans and concrete details as well as layout from survey.
  • Setting forms that hold the concrete in place.
  • Knowing the proper use of reinforcement on concrete.
  • Cleaning and inspecting surfaces for pouring issues.
  • Directing the casting of the concrete with the truck driver.
  • Pouring, smoothing, and leveling concrete using a rake, trowel, float, and screed. This includes handheld tools and power tool versions.
  • Monitoring the effects of the weather on the curing process.
  • Applying sealing and hardening components.
  • Safely operating power vibrator to ensure the concrete is compacted.
  • Molding and constructing expansion joints using joiners and edging tools.
  • Polishing surface using a power surfacing machine.
  • Supervising and training workers to help them use special tools to spread concrete.
  • Practice forward thinking while staying up to date with pouring technology and equipment.
  • Communicate clear instructions and prompt hand signals to equipment operators.
  • Follow both written and verbal instruction given by project leads.
  • Comply with federal, state and local regulations, including the appropriate use of PPE.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for safety and work practices.
  • Operate small handheld power tools.
  • Familiarity with concrete mixes.
  • Use wire mesh or rebar to reinforce the concrete as needed.
  • Use stains or colors to add the finishing touch.
  • Add small stones or other materials for decoration.
  • Perform Other Duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years work experience as a concrete laborer or mason.
  • Excellent organization skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Effective time management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Effective written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to travel including but not limited to jobsites and suppliers.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to successfully pass criminal background investigation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of working with different types of concrete mixes and concrete finishes.
  • Ability to operate small equipment including skid steer, mini excavator, and forklift.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Good level of physical fitness.
  • Practical skills to operate power tools and machinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and plans.

CDL Truck Driver

We are accepting applications for Truck Drivers to join our growing Jamestown Excavation team!

Truck Drivers play a vital role in keeping our residential and commercial excavation projects moving! You’ll be behind the wheel of a variety of vehicles, including dump trucks, lowboys & flatbeds, end dumps & belly dumps, and water trucks. This position is responsible for the hauling of materials and equipment, vehicle maintenance and provides general labor support when applicable.

This is a full-time role working 4, 10-hour days per week.

As a Truck Driver, you will:
  • Responsible for the efficient, safe and cost-effective operation of the companys truck to which they are assigned.
  • Operates dump trucks, lowboys, end dumps, belly dumps, water trucks and flatbed trucks
  • Responsible for keeping dispatch aware of traffic, slowdowns or any other potential problems
  • Informs dispatch and shop foreperson about any necessary maintenance or mechanical issues
  • Responsible for filling out timecards correctly; daily logs, damage reports, load count reports within a timely and concise manner
  • Performs inspections and routine vehicle maintenance to include but not limited to adjusting truck brakes and vital fluids engine, etc. Provides daily documentation for vehicle maintenance.
  • Must be able to fuel and grease truck and/or equipment as needed
  • Assists JEX positions in the field as needed
  • Responsible for pick-up and delivery of supplies and equipment as applicable
  • Performs general labor duties including but not limited to surveying layout, shoveling rock and dirt, and provides tophand support to pipe layers, etc. as needed
  • Comply with Federal, state and local regulations, including the appropriate use of PPE
What are the Required Qualifications for this position?
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Three (3) years of experience in operating Class A vehicles
  • Satisfactory completion of MSHA (training provided by JEX)
  • Understands the Federal, state and local regulations
  • Ability to travel including but not limited to jobsites, quarries, suppliers
  • Commercial Drivers License (with a Class A endorsement for air brakes and tankers)
  • Must comply with random drug and alcohol screens throughout employment
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-hire drug/alcohol and criminal background investigation

Laborer

JKT, Development Inc. is searching for a full-time Heavy Equipment Operator to join their growing team!

The Heavy Equipment Operator manages a variety of heavy machinery for the purpose of residential and/or commercial excavating projects. While maintaining a safe and clean work environment, this position performs site layout staking, excavating, water, sewer, storm and dry utilities.

  • Proficient with using a field laser level, sight-level and other surveying equipment.
  • Understand and interpret blueprints, plans and layouts and able to layout projects
  • Ability to travel including but not limited to jobsites, quarries, suppliers.

This is a dynamic position where you’ll be an integral part of bringing residential and commercial projects to life. Duties include but are not limited to, site preparation and measuring, digging, staking, loading/unloading of tools or materials, and installation of traffic control devices.
